BioColour is one of the three research projects belonging to the IMPRES program funded by the Strategic Research Council.
Every November the researchers and interaction coordinators of the three projects along with IMPRES program director Asta Salmi have organized an event at the ThinkCorner open for the general public. This gives the researchers an opportunity to present their work and advances in their research. In November 2023, the talks focused around the theme of reducing consumption because the technological solutions of the green transition are insufficient. Lotta Ruippo of BioColour talked about consumers’ relationships with packaging. Jan Holmström (ValueBioMat) approached the theme from a plastic industry perspective and Linda Turunen (FINIX) focused on choices made in clothing. Finally, Johanna Kohvakka, specialist in sustainable development, wrapped things up in her commentary. The next, and final, IMPRES event at ThinkCorner will be held in November 2024. The event is held in Finnish.

IMPRES researchers gathered together to brainstorm and share their ideas several times during 2023. Our first meeting for 2024 was held in early February. It focused on sharing experiences on successful industry interactions, Building Impact with Industry. Pasi Ainasoja, from BioColour’s partner Natural Indigo Finland, said that his company “would not exist were it not for the BioColour researchers”. The journey with Biocolour has been unforgettable and educational, with its ups and downs. “But every time, with big and small challenges, when the researchers and I sat at the same table, there have been successes”.
